The development of the presented study is based on the available data of the last Census and of the researches among the census realized, above all on the population pattern of consumption.

POPULATION

The updating of the population was made starting from the calculation of the rate among the census realized and applied in the population referred in the study. The sum of the projected populations resulted in the total population, estimated for the period.

HOUSEHOLDS

The household calculation was made starting from the permanent resident people's average in the households. The average was applied the estimated population for the period. To establish the household class, according to the criterion of socioeconomic classification, we apply the structure of household incomes, and according to the percentage distribution of several socioeconomic classes, it was made a overlap in the population, obtaining the values of identification of each class according to the level of regional income, i.e., state, city, district or other places. To United States of America the households are the Consumer Units.

CONSUMPTION

A projection model was elaborated, based on the economical growth of the country and consequently of consumption of the population, in which the total consumption of the country was calculated to be, then, distributed for the units of consumption, their groups, categories and cells.

POTENTIAL OF CONSUMPTION

Once established the consumption of each household in each socioeconomic class and in each area, the potential of consumption of that area can be calculated, splitting the amount of the expected expenses in the same, for the exercise of one year, for the total of average expenses of the country. The obtained information is presented in form of an index of participation of the expense of the area in the total expense of the country, with percentile reading.

POTENTIAL OF CONSUMPTION BY CATEGORY OF PRODUCTS

First a criterion of classification of the expenses was elaborated for later to attribute to each class socioeconomic of the households, of each area, the potential amount of consumption of that expense group, in each class socioeconomic.

The groups were planned in a way that approximated to the maximum established by the government organizations and it served as basis for the projections of consumption of the population, in this study.

The expenses were classified in the following categories:

Food at home
Food away from home
Apparel
Footwear
Maintenance of the Housing
Household Furnishings and Equipments
Transports
